Training your abdominal muscles is not the same thing as training your core. Training your core involves stabilization. The muscles that are used to stabilize your spine are located underneath your abdominal muscles. It’s important to know the difference. Someone with 6 pack abs might not necessarily have strong core muscles. On the other hand, someone can be very strong in their core and be able to stabilize very well without a defined mid-section. It’s best to incorporate a combination of both types of exercises in your workouts for overall function and strength.
